Doom is a first-person shooter released for the PC December 10, 1993 by id Software. The series had a sequel Doom II: Hell on Earth (1994), and three expansions, The Ultimate DOOM (1995), Master Levels for Doom II (1995), and Final DOOM (1996). Since the source code was released in 1997 (and re-licensed under the GPL in 1999) an active community has emerged to update and maintain the game.
