Key points
- Remastered version of BioShock. Released as part of BioShock: The Collection (cover pictured), which also includes BioShock 2 Remastered.
- A 1 GB patch was released which fixed many issues.
- Another 1 GB patch was released in December wich fixed various issues.
- Free to owners of BioShock on Steam.[1] Purchasing this version likewise gives a free Steam copy of the original.
- Bink cutscenes have been reworked.
- The way the subtitles were handled has been redone. The font size has been cranked up on high resolution monitors and the bug where they would disappear every time after the first paragraph has been fixed.
- Every mouse sensitivity issues have been fixed, and mouse acceleration was removed.
- The overall sound quality has been downgraded due to poor mixing, the abandon of EAX support, as well as heavier compression.
- The wet glowing effect on textures has been removed entirely due to artistic choices.
- Some lightning effects are rendered incorrectly like the flames light passing through the water in the first scene.

- The game, after being patched, now supports in-game options for Mono, Stereo, Quad, Surround, 5.1, 7.1. There is no in-game option for Pro Logic support.

Surround sound requires your output device to be set to 48kHz or most audio will not play. To check or change it, right-click the speaker icon in your taskbar.
- Select playback devices.
- Double-click the entry that says "Default device".
- Change to the "Advanced" tab.
- Select a 48000Hz format.
- Don't forget to save your changes.

- Fixed with patch, which now asks if the player wants the settings to be deleted.

Game crashes reliably at specific points
- Some custom control binds can cause the game to crash at specific points (such as during the tutorial section or after obtaining a new weapon) and appear to be caused by control hints shown on the screen. Mouse buttons 4 and 5 (and likely any additional extra mouse buttons) are known to cause this problem.
