Skip intro
You can't skip the initial "Empire: Total War" loading screen, but others can be. Just follow this instructions.
Game data
- Empire: Total war savegames can become really big (even 90MB). Compress oldest (or at least enable NTFS transparent compression for the whole folder) is really advised.

Changing the Game Resolution
Some users are unable to change the resolution from the in-game menu. To change the resolution externally, go to %APPDATA%\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts and open preferences.empire_script with Notepad, then edit the 3rd and fourth lines that will say
x_res 0; # x_res <int32>, Fixed window width # y_res 0; # y_res <int32>, Fixed window height #
Replace the zeroes with the resolution options of your choice (1920x1080, 800x600 etc.).
