Potentially working solutions are available for Nvidia users.

  1. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel by right-clicking an area on your desktop or by other means.
  2. Click on Manage 3D settings on the sidebar.
  3. Click on the Program Settings tab.
  4. Click on Add, select WWZ, or click on Browse and select <path-to-game>\en_us\client\bin\pc\wwzRetailEgs.exe
  5. Under Select the preferred graphics processor for this program, choose High-performance NVIDIA processor.
  6. Apply the changes.
Remove AMD components[16]
  1. Download the AMD Cleanup Utility for your system.
  2. Run the .exe file and follow the instructions.
Downgrade the Nvidia display drivers to 391.35[17][18]
  1. Download the correct 391.35 drivers for your system.
  2. Run the .exe file and follow the instructions.

Progression loss

Make a backup copy[19][20]
  1. Go to the save game data location.
  2. Copy the files to a new folder for backup.
This needs to be done regularly to make sure the backup is up to date.
In the event of progression loss, replace the files with your backup copy.

Issues fixed

Switch from Vulkan to DirectX11[21]
  1. Go to Settings -> Video.

I closed the Epic Games launcher and renamed its Binaries folder. The game tried to connect to its servers but failed, still allowing to play through the Offline mode.
