Thanks for your recent Wurm Unlimited edit

2
Anonymous (talkcontribs)

Thanks for the recent edit to Wurm Unlimited. I wasn't sure if it counted since the site and pre-orders are handled by a storefront, DLGamer, which PCGamingWiki doesn't recognize as "trusted" as of this writing.

Garrett (talkcontribs)

The availability template covers a very small selection of stores, so omissions don't mean that a site is untrustworthy; for instance, see Rebellion's Sniper Elite 3 partners--most of these aren't implemented on the wiki.

Why split Mac OS into different retail section?

6
Anonymous (talkcontribs)

I noticed how the Mac OS listing for Mechwarrior 2 got split into its own retail row. Given as the editing guide simply says to include what versions are supported for each storefront, what merits Mac OS being separate?

Garrett (talkcontribs)

The Mac OS retail version doesn't include DOS/Windows (and vice versa) and for some games may have DRM differences. This hasn't been discussed, however.

Anonymous (talkcontribs)

Well, if this is official (which it sounds like it is), perhaps this is something ThatOneReaper should add to the editing guide ASAP?

Garrett (talkcontribs)

This situation hasn't been discussed at all so it isn't an official stance.

All I've done is just remove the "the"'s - for not knowing what to write, you write well.

Blackbird (talkcontribs)

You need to add hackable for this as some games only add it with mods such as GTAIII/VC/SA where GInput restores it.
Also Generic, Xbox, DualShock together look badly aligned.

Garrett (talkcontribs)

I've added hackable support for haptic feedback. In the case of San Andreas, this game was recently updated with XInput support or something--did Rockstar not add native feedback as part of that?

What games support all prompt types? The width for that part of the template could be adjusted a bit to accommodate that.

Blackbird (talkcontribs)

R* never added feëdback support. They only replaced DInput with XInput and bound Start button to Esc according to Silent the creator of GInput.
All old GTA games. They show generic prompts by default and XBox/DualShock with GInput so therefore they support all of them.
Also another thing. Could you please add tooltips to button prompts?
PS: I didn't get notification that you replied to me. WTF. Oh it's hidden under profile name now. This is silly. I never check there :(

Garrett (talkcontribs)

I've added tooltips to Template:Prompts.

Liquid Threads unfortunately doesn't integrate with the notification system. This might be changing in the future.

Blackbird (talkcontribs)

Hah looks like SA has 4 button prompts now. I forgot GInput had Wii addon. I just checked and there are generic JOY## prompts (text-based) + arrow button prompts in pcbuttons.txd in default SA. Dunno if that's enough to get the Generic value since that isn't covered in guide yet.
Also I've been just informed that Postal 2 has lot of button prompts too. Generic, DS3/4, 360/One and Wii ones (obv only 4 for wiki purposes but still)

Blackbird (talkcontribs)

So? Will you adjust it?

Garrett (talkcontribs)

I didn't make this template, so I don't know why the generic option is treated differently. Try asking Soeb.

Garrbot incorrectly used Reflist tag on wiki article

2
Anonymous (talkcontribs)

I recently discovered Garrbot swapped out the current {{References}} tag with the old {{Reflist}} tag for Betrayal in Antara - which generated a redlink for the latter's template page. After a discussion on the matter, soeb reverted the tag change. While I haven't seen Garrbot incorrectly swapping the {{References}} tag elsewhere, I thought you should know.

Garrett (talkcontribs)

AutoWikiBrowser's general fixes feature applies this default references section code to pages that have references but lack a references section. This doesn't replace uses of Template:References. I've added an override to change it to this wiki's style going forward.

Skyrim Mouse Acc Clarification

It was more the mention of the line possibly not existing. That doesn't sound right.

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

I do have the line, but I did launch Skyrim at least once though so I don't know if the line wasn't there to begin with. I guess this was mainly for people who literally never launched the game once.

PowerSlave series box

Blackbird (talkcontribs)

Is it because it's not official? Otherwise I don't get it.

Garrett (talkcontribs)

The PowerSlave remake includes the assets without permission. I was going to make a forum topic about this sort of thing but I forgot. EDIT: see Unlicensed remakes on the wiki.

Blackbird (talkcontribs)

Err, but he took down the download? Why care?

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)
Garrett (talkcontribs)

Oh, I see what's happened. This might have been caused when the old controller pages were deleted in a non-standard way. Bad title pages can't be accessed in the normal way (I don't know of any wiki-side workaround off-hand).

StarCraft Framerate Thingy

2
RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

Should it be marked as false instead? I felt as if N/A was a bit more fitting seeing as the framerate works a bit more differently than in most newer games.

Garrett (talkcontribs)

Yes, if it runs below that frame rate it should be graded false (N/A is not valid). If frame rate can be increased but affects game speed that can also be noted.

Logic path for interim high frame rate transition

2
Anonymous (talkcontribs)

I was thinking something along these lines for migrating to the new parameters in the interim if it was possible with the wiki syntax you use if possible for preserving old notes while hiding 120 where 60fps is false or 120fps is unknown. However, I see the transition is already in place so it may be superfluous at this point. Sorry if I wasted your time XD.

Garrett (talkcontribs)

FPS row visibility is not implemented at present but would be something to consider.

FrameRate Police Thief Thread Thingy

Garrett (talkcontribs)

Oh, thanks for that. The Compatibility Administrator method works either way and is preferable for several reasons. Where possible the wiki should supply a pre-packaged fix for these cases. The download has separate DLLs for 8 and 8.1 so there might be issues with the DLL method on 10 and later.
