First-person mode

Enable first-person mode[2][3]
  1. Start the game with the +com_allowconsole 1 parameter.
  2. Once in the game, press Insert.
  3. Type in and enter pl_FPS 1.
  4. Play past chapter one for the command to work properly.

Notes

The game may crash when applying the gas mask in chapter four.

Reduce micro-stuttering

Reduce micro-stuttering[citation needed]
  1. Open the installation folder
  2. Create a new folder and rename it TheEvilWithinCache.
  3. Add the launch option +fs_cachepath "C:\YOURPATH\The Evil Within 2\TheEvilWithinCache" to the game launch options in Steam. Alternatively, you can create a shortcut of the game .exe file, then open its properties and add the launch option in the target field, leaving 1 empty space between the exe and the launch option.
  4. Run the game, if you used the "shortcut method", launch the game from the shortcut.
  5. After running the game and loading an area, verify the presence of the two files FileCache000.bin and FileCacheHeader.bin in the folder TheEvilWithinCache you created.
  6. If the files are there, it means that the tweak is working.
