Key points
- The PC version adds improved flashlight lighting and the ability to save at any time during the game
- Some pixelated shadows and depth-of-field.
- FPS may fluctuate between 30 FPS and 60 FPS. There are no known solutions to this.
- Only supports Dinput for controllers and default bindings are awkward. Controls should be adjusted.
- 14 of Heather's outfits in the PS2 version are removed.

- Flawless Widescreen supports this game. The aspect ratio may need to be narrower. If the game appears too wide, go to Flawless Widescreen's program files, find the Silent Hill 3 plugin config, and change 1.33 to 1.2. If you receive a permission error, close Flawless Widescreen, drag the file to your desktop and edit it there, then drag it back then.

Issues fixed
Silent Hill 3 is usually considered the best PC port out of the Silent Hill PlayStation 2 releases.
- Low resolution Depth of Field effect. Also, no options to crank it up or turn it off.
- If using anti aliasing (MSAA, at least), Depth of Field effect becomes corrupted (halos around objects).
- Rendering resolution (usually found under Inventory > Options > Configuration) is actually internal framebuffer resolution. Use it to match your display resolution.
- By default, the game creates savegames in its own folder. This can cause issues for users with non-elevated privileges. The workaround is to change the default save location by modifying the registry.
