Multi-monitor

When playing on a system with multiple monitors, the game will default to fullscreen on the primary monitor. When the game is alt-tabbed out of and reopened, the screen will go black. Once there simply wiggle the mouse . Sometimes the game will go back to normal, and sometimes the game will crash instead.

Issues fixed

Steam Achievements

Steam Achievements will fail to unlock if the game has already been launched on the current instance of Steam. To fix this, restart Steam and achievements will start unlocking again; however achievements that should have been awarded will not be rewarded after relaunching the game.

My 3rd party controller has messed up button mapping

XBCD with 360 pad, wrong keymapping

XBCD drivers might require custom settings to work properly. These are the ones that worked for me.

Cutscenes do not play

Check that Windows Media Player 11 or better is installed on your system. Codec Packs have been known to interfere as well. Ex. LAV Filters. Uninstall any codec packs.

Game doesn't reach menu

Could be caused by the AMD logo introduction.

Rename "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Darksiders\media\videos\AMD_Logo_movie" to something else.

Game freezes at initial black screen

Unplug your keyboard, then start the game, then plug the keyboard back in.

Disabling intro logos

To make the game reach the menu faster rename the following files to something else. All of them can be found under

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Darksiders\media\videos\
