Essential improvements
BloodGDX
- BloodGDX is a reverse-engineered port of Blood. It's written in Java, thus supports any OS that can run Java Runtime. It requires the original 1.21 version of the game and can run custom maps and episodes made for the original game. It is in alpha state and still contains some bugs.
Run in DOSBox
To improve DOSBox performance make the following changes to the DOSBox configuration file:
- Change
output=surface
to output=openglnb
- Change
memsize=16
to memsize=64
- Change
core=normal
to core=dynamic
- Change
cycles=auto
to cycles=max
- Change
aspect=false
to aspect=true
- Change
fullresolution=original
to fullresolution=0x0
Blood Launcher
- The One Unit Whole Blood Launcher is recommended for the best experience. It includes a large number of optional modifications and custom maps.
bMouse
- bMouse is a DOS extension which improves mouse looking by removing the mouse filter which causes issues related to both axis not updating properly.

BloodCM
- BloodCM is a remake of the game in a Duke Nukem 3D source port, eDuke32. It has inconsistencies in physics, AI, and secrets compared to the original. But is recommended if you would like a part of the experience at high resolutions and frame-rates.
