Game crashing

The game may crash on launch, resulting in the "Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC exited unexpectedly" error message.
Temporarily disable anti-virus software or add the game folder to its list of scan exclusions.[9]

Game stuttering

Multiple players have reported in-game stuttering possibly related to high CPU usage.[15]
Reduce the number of CPU cores used by the game in the system[16]
  1. Open Task Manager.
  2. Click on the Details tab to see the list of running processes.
  3. Locate RDR2.exe
  4. Right-click it and select Set affinity.
  5. Deselect one or two of the cores (e.g. CPU 2 and CPU 3) and click OK.
Externally limit CPU usage by the game[17][18]
  1. Download BES.
  2. Unpack the archive and run BES.exe
  3. Launch the game.
  4. Click on Target... and select RDR2.exe from the list.
  5. Click on Limit this and confirm by clicking on Yes.
  6. Move the slider below to put the limit at -10% or experiment with other values.
