Key points

Steam version was updated to use a custom made engine, with better fullscreen support, leaderboards, cloud saves, achievements, new languages and controller support.^[1]

Other stores and versions should get updated in the future,^[2] this article is based off the updated version and differences to the original Flash version are indicated.

(Windows) Machinarium's saves are stored in the Flash cache so will be removed by tools such as CCleaner; disable Flash file deletion to avoid this.^[3]

(Windows) Amanita Design also released their own tool to extract save-files.^[4]
