- Official version of Adobe Flash Player was deprecated in July 2017 with a notice of an End-of-Life at the end of 2020. After that, all remaining support for it on Windows and browsers was discontinued on January 12th, 2021. Attempting to install the official release on latest Windows versions or browsers will fail.[1]
- Adobe Flash Player is still updated in China and worldwide on some specialized enterprise platforms.[2]
Alternatives
Several alternatives are available, whether the user desires to run Adobe Flash Player content directly, or just desires to play Flash games.
- Largest preservation project of Flash games, which allows to play all archived games in a secure sandboxed launcher with a proxy that tricks the game into thinking you're playing directly from web.
- A Flash Player emulator written in Rust allowing for secure playback of Flash content directly on PC and in browser.
- Not compatible with 100% of Flash content, see the compatibility page on the official website.
- Official release of the chinese Adobe Flash Player releases cleaned up from adware, ensuring faithful playback of Flash content. This release is more up-to-date than the latest Global release of Flash, which makes it slightly more secure.
- Keep in mind that this is still the original Adobe Flash Player under the hood, which means it's still mostly as vulnerable to security risks as the original Flash is. This should only be considered as a last resort - make sure the other two don't fit your requirements, first.
