Topic on Talk:Need for Speed: Most Wanted

so recently I was experimenting with dll files and found out that dxvk improves performance by a lot and allows game to easily reach +200 fps in 4k on my pc (rtx3050, amd fx 8120) and without dxvk I could barely go over 60 fps with drops to even 25 in some locations (with widescreen patch of course) in dxvk config file i changed following settings: d3d9.samplerAnisotropy = 16 d3d9.invariantPosition = False dxvk.useRawSsbo = True dxvk.enableGraphicsPipelineLibrary = Auto d3d9.floatEmulation = True

and I'm writing this to ask if it's a good idea to add dxvk to nfs:mw page, maybe also carbon page cuz they run on same engine

I personally don't think it's a good idea to add DXVK to the game's page. The performance improvements depend too much on the individual system (like, for example, i experienced WORSE performance in some games people suggested me to try DXVK with), it's not very reliable. DXVK should only be added when the benefits are recognized by a significant amount of users (like in the case of GTA IV). Additionally, NFSMW is a very old game and is also pretty well optimized already.

Nah... NFSMW 2005 was never optimized well. It's known from it's infamous bad memory management (maybe even leading to performance issues on weak CPUs like the OP's). I have similar results w/o DXVK like the OP - never much above 60FPS, framerate doesn't feel too stable (can't remember frame pacing - maybe that's the issue) I think I also had some FPS drops, but not so drastic. I eventually locked FPS/used VSync and it was somehow better. Back then I also tried DXVK, and it didn't help me, but I didn't use so many commandlines. I need to check them on Radeon and I'll let you know. Actually if we confirm that the fix works on both leading GPU manufacturs, then it should be posted as a fix for old CPUs with low IPC. Even as checked on only one GPU manufacturer and CPU. Benefits of using DXVK may vary on GPU and CPU and it won't harm to simply post the fix with tested configurations where it's confirmed to give FPS boost.
