Topic on Talk:Burnout Paradise

Mirh (talkcontribs)

Gamecopyworld (usually the only somewhat universal source out there) claims it's using SecuROM. EA support instead talks of Solidshield.

Albeit it shouldn't be technically impossible to mix them.. It makes no sense to authorize the game with 2 online services

Blackbird (talkcontribs)

GTAIV disagrees with you :D

Mirh (talkcontribs)

I mean, I know it requires R* social club for online features, SecuROM to check license and GFWL for saving games.. But I would say they "sit" on different levels.

On the other hand SecuROM and SolidShield are directly in competition.

ChaosBahamut (talkcontribs)

afaik Burnout Paradise was released back when EA had their SecuRom 'fetish' so unless EA made some server-side changes to the retail version's DRM to make it 'phone' to the Solidshield servers (which would be news to me) then the game uses SecuRom and the community manager is wrong.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

Oh, I got it.

If things went like that, SecuROM is used to check release date and unlock game files, whilst SolidShield is the actual thing that will run every time you play the game and control your license

EDIT: nevermind, you are right (the thing even used to be used in the Origin version)
