The SCUF Reflex is a game controller released by Scuf Gaming on May 10th, 2022.

A made to order, custom version of Sony's DualSense controller, the SCUF Reflex keep most of the internals of the standard DualSense intact, but replaced the outer shell and joystick cap with the custom-made ones. It also added 4 remappable back buttons that can be remapped on the fly.

It is available in three different models: the standard Reflex, the Reflex Pro which added the rubber grip, and the Reflex FPS which replaced the analog triggers with digital triggers and removed the voice-coil haptic motors. Colors of the controller vary according to customer's specification.

Due to being a customized version of the standard DualSense controller, the SCUF Reflex is a generic DirectInput controller, so it is not supported by games that use the XInput API unless XInput wrappers like Steam Input are used. Some wrappers can expose additional features such as gyroscope, touchpad control including the ability to change lightbar color. Being a custom-made DualSense controller, it is supported natively in selected games, where features like adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are natively supported (see support in games), however it is only supported with a wired connection. Audio passthrough to the 3.5mm audio jack also only works when wired.

Availablility

Unlike most game controllers, the SCUF Reflex is a custom-made version of the DualSense (which requires a DualSense itself to make), so it is currently only made to order for now.

Controller variation

While there are no difference between the Reflex and the Reflex Pro other than the rubber grip on the latter, the Reflex FPS replaced the analog triggers with the digital triggers and removed the voice-coil haptic motors.

Use with PC platforms

Being a custom version of the DualSense, many third-party wrappers that support DualSense also support the SCUF Reflex as it was treated as a DualSense by all OS. See DualSense for more details.

Steam

Being a custom version of the DualSense, Steam can natively support the SCUF Reflex.

Steam Input

Capable of making full use of Steam Input due to many overlapping features with the Steam Controller.
Has rumble, trackpad and gyro support. Can also be used wirelessly.[1]
Supports Adaptive Triggers (Native mode only).[2]

Steam Link compatibility

Wired or wireless works.[3] Press PlayStation+ᴄʀᴇᴀᴛᴇ to power up and be detected by Steam Link. All buttons are mapped correctly.
Works without any drivers on any operating system that supports Steam.
Can be used just to send input from a controller to a PC. Go into Streaming options, hit and disable video and audio streaming.
Won't work great unless the streaming device is connected to LAN or a low latency Wi-Fi.
Touchpad and gyro will not be pass through to steam when using Steam Link on android.

Controller profile and remapping

Remapping is done with just the controller without the need of additional software.
Because the remappable buttons were added in the way that they intercept from and emulate inputs to the DualSense's internals, third-party wrappers cannot remap the remappable buttons.

Switching the built-in profiles

Switching the controller profiles
  1. Press the Remap button to cycle through the 3 built-in profiles.

Notes

The color of the lit up Remap button vary depending on which profile was selected.

Remapping the buttons

Remapping the buttons
  1. Press and hold the Remap button until it start flashing to enter the remapping mode.
  2. Press and hold down one of the remappable buttons.
  3. Press one of the existing buttons to bind them to the remappable button. The Remap button will flash once in white color when it bind the existing buttons to the remappble buttons
  4. To exit the remapping mode, press the Remap button

Support in games

Due to being a custom version of the DualSense, many of DualSense's functions, including adaptive triggers, gyro, lightbar and haptic feedback, are supported. See DualSense for more details.
The Reflex FPS does not support adaptive triggers and haptic feedback due to analog triggers and voice-coil motors being replaced/removed.

Other information

Technical information

The SCUF Reflex, being made using a DualSense controller, shares the same device name and hardware ID as the latter (See DualSense for more details).

Firmware updates

Because it was made from the DualSense controller, it retains the same firmware. Its firmware can be updated from Windows devices using official app. Update process requires wired connection.
