The SCUF Infinity4PS is a game controller released by Scuf Gaming on May 5, 2016.[1]

A made to order, custom version of Sony's DualShock 4 controller, the Infinity4PS keep most of the internals of the standard DualShock 4 intact, but replaced the outer shell and joystick cap with the custom-made ones. Unlike its predecessor, the outer shell of the Infinity4PS has the removable stick ring to allow the thumbsticks to be swapped out with another ones. The Infinity4PS also has two remappable back buttons, which can be remapped using the optional EMR tool and were sit on top of the user-removeable paddle plates. The travel distance and tension on the triggers can be adjusted.

The improved version of the Infinity4PS, the Infinity4PS Pro, was released on April 5, 2017[2]. Unlike the original Infinity4PS which has the bolt-on paddle plates, the Pro model has the slide-on paddle plates for easy removal. The Infinity4PS FPS, a model with digital triggers and no rumble motors, was released after the company's acquisition by Corsair. Colors of the controller vary according to customer's specification.

Due to being a customized version of the standard DualShock 4 controller, the SCUF Infinity4PS is a generic DirectInput controller, so it is not supported by games that use the XInput API unless XInput wrappers like Steam Input are used. Some wrappers can expose additional features such as gyroscope, touchpad control including the ability to change the lightbar color. The 3.5mm audio jack is only functional when the controller is connected wired via Micro-USB or wirelessly using the official adapter which exposes the custom PS4[3] mode.

Availablility

Unlike most game controllers, the SCUF Infinity4PS is a custom-made version of the DualShock 4 (which requires a DualShock 4 itself to make), so it is currently only made to order for now. Note that the original Infinity4PS was discontinued.

Controller variations

The Infinity4PS is the original release. It has the bolt-on paddle plates.
The Infinity4PS Pro is a updated model wtih the slide-on paddle plates.
The Infinity4PS FPS is a version of the Infinity4PS Pro with digital triggers and had rumble motors removed.

Use with PC platforms

Being a custom version of the DualShock 4, many third-party wrappers that support DualShock 4 also support the SCUF Infinity4PS as it was treated as a DualShock 4 by all OS. See DualShock 4 for more details.

Steam

Being a custom version of the DualShock 4, Steam can natively support the SCUF Infinity4PS.

Steam Input

Capable of making full use of Steam Input due to many overlapping features with the Steam Controller.
Has rumble, trackpad and gyro support. Can also be used wirelessly.[4]

Steam Link compatibility

Wired or wireless works.[5] Press PlayStation+ᴄʀᴇᴀᴛᴇ to power up and be detected by Steam Link. All buttons are mapped correctly.
Works without any drivers on any operating system that supports Steam.
Can be used just to send input from a controller to a PC. Go into Streaming options, hit and disable video and audio streaming.
Won't work great unless the streaming device is connected to LAN or a low latency Wi-Fi.
Touchpad and gyro will not be pass through to steam when using Steam Link on android.

Controller profile and remapping

Remapping is done with just the controller without the need of additional software.
The optional EMR tool is required.
Because the remappable buttons were added in the way that they intercept from and emulate inputs to the DualShock 4's internals, third-party wrappers cannot remap the remappable buttons.

Remapping the buttons

Remapping the buttons
  1. Place the EMR tool on the back of the controller, in which the tool will attach to magnetically to enable the mapping mode.
  2. Hold down one of the remappable back buttons.
  3. Press and hold down any of the face buttons (or the stick buttons) for about 5 second to bind them to the remappable button.
  4. Release the remappable back button and the selected face button.
  5. To exit the remapping mode, remove the EMR tool from the controller.

Support in games

Due to being a custom version of the DualShock 4, such as gyro and lightbar, are supported. See DualShock 4 for more details.
