Baldur's Gate

Baldur's Gate was released in 1999 and its expansion is the Tales of the Sword Coast. Its sequel is the seminal Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn (2000) and its expansion Throne of Bhaal (2001).
Baldur's Gate Combined Installation
The combined installation provides the ideal Baldur's Gate experience by allow one to play a single character through the entire Baldur's Gate franchise from beginning to end, with all recommended enhancements and modifications.
The rest of this article is only useful if one is only planning to play just Baldur's Gate and/or [Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast]]. If one intends to continue their play through to Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, then consulting Baldur's Gate Combined Installation article is recommended.

Version Differences
- Good Old Games provides a version known as Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga. This version includes the expansion Tales of the Sword Coast, as well as a number of modification which allow the game to be run in Windows 7.
Baldur's Gate Tutu
The 'Tutu' mod known as BG1Tutu Template:CitadelFile allows the importing of Baldur's Gate files into the Baldur's Gate II engine.

Installation
Required Files:
- setup_baldurs_gate.exe file from Good Old Games
- Wine 1.3
- Run from terminal:
$ wine ~/Downloads/setup_baldurs_gate.exe
- Follow on screen prompt
The path can be customized during installation but the default will be:
~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/GOG.com/Baldurs Gate
To play the game use the shortcut created in the application menu under Wine.
