In Special Edition, set 1600x900 (16:9) or 1680x1050 (16:10) in ubi.ini (C:\Windows\Ubi) and run the game from desktop shortcut (it will force native desktop resolution). Higher resolutions set in ubi.ini can cause game crash. Widescreen resoluton set in ubi.ini will crop some game HUD elements. dgVoodoo doesn't work properly with Special Edition. Use [https://yadi.sk/d/0nP1H9bJ8aZ-KA Wine] libraries instead. |

[[] Official website] | Known as "Special Edition". Usually available as abandonware. Added with Compaq computers. It has MaiD3Dvr.exe instead of Tonic Trouble.exe binary. No need of modern system binary patch (only dgVoodoo or Wine). Incompatible with widescreen patch. |
Essential improvements
Play the game on modern systems
Use dgVoodoo[citation needed] |
---|
|
Run without CD
Modify the game's shortcut and add -cdrom:X parameter where X is your drive letter[2]
|
---|
Use custom launcher (not for Special Edition)[3] |
---|
- Allows to avoid copying extra files or the CD presence itself.
- Patched binary has the "\Videos" folder location patched to the game folder. You can copy them manually to use by the game.
- Additionally you can copy from the game disk all .MPX files and .DSC in GameData\World\Sound to the game location (e.g. they're ambient sounds).
