Should Microsoft Account be listed as DRM?

6
Summary by SargeCassidy

Microsoft Account requirement is a matter of adding an account DRM to a row and adding a note on a MS account requirement where applicable.

It seems an MS Account is required to play that. Are there any known workarounds or can this be added to the page?

Mrtnptrs (talkcontribs)

Is an account necessarily a DRM though? Isn't it more for data-tracking?

Panosmafor (talkcontribs)

PCGW usually mentions a required account under DRM. Though the current description seems to imply that you can play single-player without an Xbox account.

Mrtnptrs (talkcontribs)

Sorry for the late answer, but if you can play SP without an account, it shouldn't be listed as DRM indeed.

Chrislemalee (talkcontribs)

You need Microsoft account to play the campaign because you need a ms account to start infinite as a whole. There isn’t a way to start the game without signing in

SargeCassidy (talkcontribs)

This is already accounted for. You add a generic account DRM and then a note under the Availability table saying that a MS Account is required for all versions, like Forza Horizon 4 or 5.

A recent change suggested the game had always online DRM, I reverted that change as the only thing regarding this that could be found was that only the Forge mode has this always online DRM: https://twitter.com/MichaelSchorr/status/1590789205692919808?s=20&t=ZYGP5VY1u9o4X7snGCzSTg (from lead designer at 343) So, seems the rest of the game doesn't have this, so it shouldn't be listed as such. Especially nothing can be found about the campaign component having this always online DRM....

Skip intro video: dummy mp4 file

ORIGINAL ENTRY:

Go to <path-to-game>\videos\

Delete intro.mp4

Create a new empty text file, rename it into intro.mp4

When prompted if you want to change the file extension, accept it

Creating an empty dummy file leads to game freezing on launch (at least on Steam). Recommended to remove the "Create an empty text file" portion.

Why does your video show your folder with 2 intro files? Also I experience the complete opposite.

CapoFantasma97 (talkcontribs)

This video also does that and replacing the file works fine /QJAtClOkD9w
