  • 13:01, 30 March 2024 diff hist +144 Red Faction→‎Audio: Added link to Russian localization pack
  • 16:59, 27 December 2023 diff hist +22 Red Faction→‎Field of view (FOV): Added link to console commands section for reference.
  • 16:58, 27 December 2023 diff hist +44 Red Faction→‎Field of view (FOV): A few very minor clarifications - for a person less familiar with the game and console commands in general, it may not have been clear where r_togglewidefov should have been entered.
  • 15:40, 27 December 2023 diff hist -138 Red FactionUndo revision 1462596 by Robin (talk) Reverted good faith contribution - this is not an enhancement mod. The enhancement mods section is only for optional mods that improve aspects of the game, not mods like this one which fundamentally change many aspects of the game (far beyond graphical changes). • 03:50, 29 June 2023 diff hist +47 Red FactionUndo revision 1430189 by Mystyle (talk) While made in good faith, I feel this change is a regression given the RF Wiki provides more relevant information about the discontinued PF patch than its official website does. The goal of this page is to convey information, and to that aim, the existing link to the RF Wiki page explaining PF is a better fit. Tag: Undo
  • 11:59, 13 June 2023 diff hist -21 Red FactionRF has no co-op MP whatsoever. Mouse sensitivity can be set without any hack required, but only via slider (not specific numeric values) - edited notes to provide additional clarity. 120 FPS can be achieved without any hack required - the game suffers from critical bugs, but reaching 120 FPS is not a problem. Adjusted notes to be more accurate - Dash makes two separate relevant changes: a) allows FPS up to 240 without issue, b) configurable cap. Previous wording was needlessly ambiguous.
  • 23:54, 12 June 2023 diff hist +4 Red FactionUndo revision 1426768 by Mystyle (talk) Reverting contribution made in good faith - this is incorrect. Online play is not usable without either installing Dash Faction or manually setting your tracker to rfgt.factionfiles.com. Hackable is the correct term here. Tag: Undo
  • 06:10, 4 June 2023 diff hist +38 Red Faction→‎Audio: Not sure how I've missed this so many times, but "mute on focus lost" is absolutely accessible with Dash.
  • 13:22, 2 June 2023 diff hist -3 Red FactionWording improvements - notably, the issue with the PF maps in the German GOG version is not because the game won't load the maps, but rather because the game won't load the packfile. (The maps also wouldn't work properly even if it did.) Also removed the term "pre-patched" because it's ambiguous and not really accurate - v1.21 isn't a "patch" per se. Fixed FPS section text, and re-add the indication of a configurable FPS cap feature.
  • 11:59, 1 June 2023 diff hist +37 Red FactionUndo revision 1422890 by Mystyle (talk) Reverting good faith contribution. This is an important piece to keep, otherwise a person could reasonably see Dash as simply a fix for the sub explosion glitch (for example) and not realize they need to use it in multi to fix critical security vulnerabilities, or vice versa. The potential benefit of keeping these 5 words far outweighs the benefit of saving a very small amount of space on the page. Tag: Undo
  • 15:02, 31 May 2023 diff hist -24 Red Faction→‎Digital: Simplying language and making consistent with localization section. Specifically why the multiplayer is effectively unusable isn't useful information for a user reading this section (ie. incompatibility with other version of the game). The only useful part of this is that in effect they cannot play multiplayer without fixing the problem. Important part is to communicate that they need to fix it, not to detail specifically why it was broken broken.
  • 13:38, 31 May 2023 diff hist -77 Red Faction→‎Multiplayer map packs: Removing this text because I think it's misleading - while the maps are technically included in the remake campaign, this text would lead users to believe that they were playable outside of when that mod was running, which is not the case. You have to download the map pack to play them without the remake mod running. The text I removed seems at minimum pointless, at maximum misleading.
  • 14:23, 21 May 2023 diff hist +16 Red Faction→‎Custom maps/modifications: I can agree with more directly stating "maps", but I still think that the most likely in-demand files should be listed first (ie. campaigns). Reordered the list slightly as such.
  • 11:43, 21 May 2023 diff hist +31 Red FactionRF Complete Collection is the name of the product. Also corrected the wording for the German GoG localization a little - saying "may" impact MP isn't suitable. It's a "may" for whether it impacts custom maps/mods, but it's a guarantee that it breaks multiplayer.
  • 11:33, 21 May 2023 diff hist +1,052 Red FactionUndo revision 1418138 by Mystyle (talk) Reverting edit that removed a large amount of useful information without reason. Tag: Undo
  • 11:37, 19 April 2023 diff hist -82 Red Faction→‎Modifications: Replacing moddb link with FF link to fixed version of pack. Original pack on moddb suffers from some issues (e.g. it breaks the stock HUD), all of which are fixed in this repack.
  • 16:12, 2 April 2023 diff hist +170 Red Faction→‎Other information: Added reference to glossary page on command line arguments, and detailed that commands need to be run with the launcher to work.
  • 16:07, 2 April 2023 diff hist -8 Red Faction→‎Dash Faction: Updated command line arguments link to reference below section (which provides a link to a list of all available arguments, including syntax info for this and other arguments).
  • 16:05, 2 April 2023 diff hist +241 Red Faction→‎Other information: Added reference to RF Wiki page detailing all command line arguments with syntax
  • 15:55, 2 April 2023 diff hist +516 Red Faction→‎Essential improvements: Expanded some key points for the manual installation - non-English retail distros need to replace rf.exe AFTER installing the corresponding 1.2 patch for their version, or they will experience issues. Likewise, MP will be broken for German GOG.com users if they don't manually replace tables.vpp as well as rf.exe. Also some other very minor wording tweaks.
  • 15:35, 2 April 2023 diff hist +241 Red Faction→‎Essential improvements: Tweaked some wording to make fully clear that Dash is community-made, versus 1.20 and 1.21 are official. Also added second reference for "what is Dash Faction", to the RF Wiki page for Dash, which contains a listing of key features in a format much easier to digest than the Github info page. Also updated last accessed date for RFWiki ref and named it for reuse.
  • 14:37, 2 April 2023 diff hist -167 Red Faction→‎Essential improvements: While this is technically correct, given the section is "essential improvements", and 1.21 is incompatible with Dash (which is the "essential" improvement in virtually all cases), it feels to me as though providing these instructions is likely to lead to unnecessary confusion. Perhaps the 1.21 install steps would be better on a page on the RF wiki for the sake of completeness, but here they seem more likely to cause confusion for the general user than be useful.
  • 20:24, 23 March 2023 diff hist +90 Red Faction→‎Availability: Game was previously available on Discord store before it was discontinued. Adding record of this fact for completeness (and so RF shows on the autogenerated PCGW list of Discord store games). Got the SKU from a json dump of the old Discord store contents, so should be correct.
  • 18:38, 23 March 2023 diff hist +25 Red Faction→‎Modifications: Slight tweak to the description for the N-Gage remake mod - I think it makes more sense to link to the info page specifically about the N-Gage Red Faction game, rather than the N-Gage as a platform. The linked info page about N-Gage RF does link directly to the same Wikipedia page for the N-Gage platform though, so if someone was looking for that page, it's just 1 more click.
  • 18:32, 23 March 2023 diff hist +38 Red Faction→‎Digital: I think referring to "for the german localization" as the reason for the tables.vpp edit is potentially actually more confusing than before because we use the same wording below to refer to the retail "German localization" (which works perfectly fine). I think this new version of the text appropriately addresses both your desire for it to remain informative, and mine for it to focus on the problem rather than the cause.
  • 03:03, 23 March 2023 diff hist +22 Red FactionUndo revision 1394763 by Mrtnptrs (talk) Reverting good faith edit - this is incorrect. Dash Faction isn't necessary installed to the game directory (the default actually is to install it to its own directory). Tag: Undo
  • 14:51, 22 March 2023 diff hist 0 Red Faction→‎Digital: Minor wording clarifications and standardizations. Also removed piece about the tables.vpp file being translated because it isn't relevant to the issue, and could actually downplay the severity of the issue in the minds of some - the important part is noting that the edited file totally breaks multiplayer (and that a proper fix is available), not so much how it was broken. Also clarified the last part to be clear that you need to download the pack regardless how you fix the issue.
  • 11:43, 22 March 2023 diff hist 0 m Red Faction→‎"At least 8 MB of available video memory is required" error: Minor fix, 8GB->8MB
  • 19:13, 20 March 2023 diff hist -379 Red Faction→‎Version differences: Streamlined this section a bit, removing unnecessary info and more clearly highlighting the inevitable issues players will encounter if they choose to suffer through this version. Prior version severely lacked emphasis on key points. I'm still not a fan of how the fixboxes look (they falsely imply to the reader that they are required steps for all versions, not just the German GOG version), but I haven't figured out how to best present that information yet.
  • 18:57, 20 March 2023 diff hist +40 Red Faction→‎Essential improvements: It was mentioned to me by a friend that this section wasn't clearly communicating that you don't have to go through both listed fixes (installer and manual). I think this is a good way to resolve that, but I'm not totally sure "recommended" and "alternative" are the right terms to use. Collapsed the manual install by default as well, to draw even more attention to the fact that you only need to do one or the other (if you click to expand, you know what you're doing)
  • 14:03, 20 March 2023 diff hist -8 m Red Faction→‎Dash Faction: "You can" is unnecessary.
  • 03:55, 20 March 2023 diff hist +6 Red Faction→‎N-Gage Map Ports: Slight wording change - previous wording implied that installing the N-Gage remake campaign would also install these maps (playable in the base game), which isn't correct. The remake campaign mod includes them, but you still have to download this pack to play them without that mod loaded.
  • 19:19, 19 March 2023 diff hist +255 Red Faction→‎Essential improvements: Clarified some text - we refer to GoG/Steam collectively as "digital versions" above, should here as well. Also added equivalent instructions to ensure digital versions are prepared as needed for the manual Dash installation, the same as we were already stating for retail.
  • 19:04, 19 March 2023 diff hist +24 Red Faction→‎Patches: Slight clarification to this section - it is true that one of the issues introduced by v1.21 is the crash when the notification popup appears in the middle of the screen, but this is not the only issue it introduces.
  • 15:39, 13 January 2023 diff hist +82 Red Faction II→‎Audio: Russian translation is bootleg
  • 19:04, 9 January 2023 diff hist -19 Red Faction→‎Dash Faction: Removed some more unnecessary words to condense (and cut out another line break, woo!)
  • 19:02, 9 January 2023 diff hist -168 Red Faction→‎Dash Faction: Wording updates - condensing text by removing unnecessary words (and duplication of info within the page). Also clarified the Steam instructions by specifying that the path to the DashFactionLauncher executable is what you need to use.
  • 18:38, 9 January 2023 diff hist -15 Red Faction→‎Essential improvements: Condensed wording (woohoo, fits on 1 line!)
  • 18:31, 9 January 2023 diff hist -220 Red Faction→‎Dash Faction: Removed unnecessary text from dash faction section, added condensed version in automated setup fixbox (which is where it applies)
  • 18:23, 9 January 2023 diff hist +58 Red Faction→‎Essential improvements: Condensed some text, added manual install download mirror, and matched text for manual install heading with automated install heading.
  • 15:17, 9 January 2023 diff hist +190 Red Faction→‎Dash Faction: I understand why the steps were removed - the process is extremely straightforward. Still though, the potential does exist for some to have questions (especially with the "detected version isn't directly supported" prompt), so linking to the RF wiki installation guide in case a user runs into trouble I think makes sense, rather than leaving them confused. I've revised the RF wiki guide to effectively match the steps as they previously appeared on PCGW.
  • 05:26, 4 January 2023 diff hist +118 Red Faction→‎Audio: Added section on royalty free audio (content ID for Dan Wentz's music)
  • 05:22, 4 January 2023 diff hist +64 Red Faction→‎Audio: Revamped audio section a bit. Technically subtitles are present for radio messages (always on, in fact), so "false" wasn't accurate. "Limited" is the closest I've found in the available options, hopefully the included note says everything it needs to. Also edited the volume controls item a bit to be more clear on base game functionality rather than only describing functionality when Dash is installed.
  • 05:02, 4 January 2023 diff hist +4 m Red Faction→‎Dash Faction: In what may be the most unimportant edit ever made... I added a missing "the". Woohoo.
  • 04:59, 4 January 2023 diff hist +249 Red Faction→‎Network: Added 18444 UDP (used for master server registration) and clarified Dash client networking behaviour. This is a hard concept to explain in a way that isn't overly technical, and even this explanation doesn't cover all aspects of it in this case (technically you could use -port on a client as well for example), but I think the current wording covers all information that would be relevant for 99.99% of players, without being unapproachable to consume.
  • 22:03, 3 January 2023 diff hist -3 Red Faction→‎Submarine explodes when it hits water in L5S3: Slight edit - technically the explosion doesn't happen when it hits the water, it happens immediately when it's detached from the crane. Very minor, but just wanted the text to be correct. Also removed reference to level filename (almost definitely won't be recognizable by anyone except RF mod devs, and geothermal plant is already referenced in the note)
  • 20:46, 3 January 2023 diff hist +142 Red Faction→‎Network: Removed TCP port (the RF client/server uses UDP only). Added additional context on UDP port, including how to override default.
  • 18:57, 2 January 2023 diff hist +23 Red Faction→‎Version differences: Slight edit - most EB Games stored operated under the label "Electronics Boutique" at the time they sold the retail copy that contained this exclusive map. I kept EB Games in parentheses because this game was sold during the time they were migrating from their old name to the EB Games brand, so stores selling this copy of the retail release may have used either name.
  • 16:18, 2 January 2023 diff hist +280 Red Faction IIUndo revision 1359039 by Robot enthusiast (talk) Reverting - stretched doesn't count as widescreen or 4k support. Tag: Undo
  • 01:48, 2 January 2023 diff hist +167 Red Faction→‎Field of view (FOV): Added additional information on displaying current FOV and restoring default behaviour after having changed it.
