HORI Fighting Stick (Generation 4)

The HORI Wireless Fighting Stick are a series of arcade game controller released by Hori on April 22, 2010.

Unlike the rest of HORI's arcade game controller lineup, the Wireless Fighting Stick, as its name suggest, connect to the host device wirelessly via either a USB Type-A dongle or . The Fighting Stick itself is powered by two AA batteries. There is no turbo function on it. All models has the Noir arcade layout.

Both the PlayStation-3-compatible model and the Xbox-360-compatible model were originally released as part of the Japan-exclusive collector edition bundle of the video game Tekken 6 for both consoles, released on October 29, 2009. The regular version of both models, named the Wireless Fighting Stick 3 and Wireless Fighting Stick EX, were later released in the following year.

The Wireless Fighting Stick EX is a native XInput device, but requires the use of proprietary Microsoft Wireless Gaming Receiver to be able to connect to the PC. The Wireless Fighting Stick 3, on the other hands, has its on USB Type-A dongle, but act as a DirectInput device. Only the Wireless Fighting Stick EX has a 3.5mm audio jack for audio passthrough.

The Wireless Fighting Stick 3 is a PlayStation-3-compatible model. It has its own USB dongle.
The Wireless Fighting Stick EX is an Xbox-360-compatible model. It requires a separate proprietary Microsoft Wireless Gaming Receiver
The Wireless Fighting Stick Tekken 6 Edition is the collaboration models for both the Wireless Fighting Stick 3 and the Wireless Fighting Stick EX that were made for Tekken 6.

Use with PC platforms

Only the Wireless Fighting Stick EX (and collaboration model based on it) is a XInput device.

Windows

The Wireless Fighting Stick EX rely on the Microsoft Wireless Gaming Receiver for connection. On Windows 10 and later, the receiver should be automatically detected on Windows Vista and later. If it is not detected or encountering compatibility issues on Windows XP, install the Xbox 360 Accessories Software for it.
The Wireless Fighting Stick 3 is a DirectInput device, requiring the use of a third-party wrapper to play games that utilize the XInput API.

XInput wrapping

Being a DirectInput controller, it's possible for the Wireless Fightning Stick 3 to use any of the generic wrappers. See the controller article for those.

Gamepad Phoenix

Gamepad Phoenix supports communication with both models. Joystick and buttons can be mapped
Supported extensions are Classic Controller (including Pro and NES/SNES Classic Mini variants), Nunchuk and the WiiU Pro Controller.
Also has support for XInput and DirectInput controllers.
Emulates XInput, DirectInput (any version) and WinMM APIs.
No emulation of Windows Raw Input API.

Steam

For the Wireless Fighting Stick EX, Steam will recognize it as a Xbox 360 Controller.
For the Wireless Fighting Stick 3, Steam may recognize the it as a generic DirectInput device, thus requiring manual button mappings via Steam Input.

Support in games

The Wireless Fighting Stick EX is a native XInput device, and is supported in games that use the XInput API.
Games with generic DirectInput support are supported by the Wireless Fighting Stick 3, however button placements may be out of place and need to be rebound. Refer to game-specific articles for rebinding support.
