In extreme cases, even with an i3 it should be noticeable.

Why would they bother making faster RAM if it had no effect over the performance anyway, I always went with this line of thought, buy as much RAM as possible, can you afford faster RAM? If yes get it, if not then get more RAM instead. (even if your mobo doesn't support higher frequencies, if the price difference is stupid tiny then you might as well get the better RAM, maybe compare the mobo prices for something which supports your ram, you shouldn't honestly have to buy ram more than once, you'll never swap ram out as often as your GPU anyway)

Because there aren't only games in this world? Also consumerism.
What that was supposed to mean is "I thought it was kinda obvious that there would be a difference of some kind".
