Issues fixed
Ambient Sounds And Modem
- The Unimodem device may cause a startup BSOD. Either method below can help resolve this.
Disable Unimodem device (if you don't use it)[citation needed]
|
- Open Device Manager.
- Windows 8 and later: right click the Start corner, choose Device Manager.
- Vista and 7: open the Start Menu, type
devmgmt.msc and press ↵ Enter.
- Windows XP: press ⊞ Win+R, type
devmgmt.msc and press ↵ Enter.
- Find the entry for "unimodem half-duplex audio device", or similar.
- Right click the unimodem device, choose Disable, choose Yes.
- Close Device Manager.
|
Toggle Unimodem device during gameplay (if you use it)[citation needed]
|
- Download Devcon.
- Extract it somewhere convenient.
- Use Notepad to save the text below as
riven.bat in the same folder as devcon.exe , editing the device name so that it matches what's listed in Device Manager, and the path to the EXE so that it matches what's in the existing shortcut:
devcon disable "unimodem half-duplex audio device" "C:\GOG Games\Riven\riven.exe" devcon enable "unimodem half-duplex audio device"
- Run the batch file to launch the game; this will automatically disable the device, launch the game, then re-enable it when you finish playing.[1]
