- Day of Defeat became an official Valve mod and was released as version 1.0. Prior to this Day of Defeat saw a number of revisions ultimately leading up to the final pre-official version of 3.1. With the release of 1.0 many of the gameplay elements changed and previously popular maps were removed from the game.
- Because of the niche nature of playing this version most game sessions are organized through the DoD 3.1 steam community group.
