# Open
game\AkibaUU_Config.exe
with preferred hex editor.

# On line 0017FA60 (with patch 06/03/15, may change) starts all available ingame resolutions listed. It starts with 8002 0000 E001, which translates if you swap the bytes to 0280 0000 01E0 that would be 640x480.

# Convert desired resolution (e.g. 3840x2160) to hex (results 0F 00, 08 70) and reverse their order order (00 0F, 70 08).

# Overwrite 8002 0000 E001 with desired resolution. This will replace 640x480 from config menu with that resolution (remember not to change the middle 4 values. Leave those as 0. If you have a resolution that translates part of the values to "00" continue to change only the first or third set of values. Ex; 4098x2304 is 0210 0000 0009)

#* If you used
config.dat
method earlier, undo read only for the file.

# Save changes and start up the game. Desired resolution should be selectable from resolution drop down menu

Controller support
ii Even though game has good controller support and it's even recommended to use a controller because of UI designs and mouse problems, game has issues with full controller support. These include launcher which can't be navigated with controller, name entry requiring keyboard input, cursor stays on the screen and that game doesn't prevent monitor from going to sleep if using controller (use of mouse or keyboard prevents this).

It's possible to bypass launcher, move cursor away and prevent sleeping by using AkibaInterceptor. To input name when starting new game, launch the game using Steam Big Pictures and use virtual keyboard from overlay.

Issues unresolved

Poor mouse support

The mouse mostly mimics a right stick, and the cursor isn't restricted to the window nor hidden. When the cursor reaches the edge of the screen, it stops the right stick movement, making camera control nearly impossible.[3]

High frame rate issues

The game is playable at 60 FPS, but some actions are affected, e.g. menu navigation becomes faster, button smash QTEs require faster button pressing and inputs are registered per frame, so shorter button presses are registered as button holding.[4] At very high frame rates, some actions are completely impossible.[5]

Issues fixed

Resolution looks blurry or upscaled

The game uses a lower rendering resolution than the selected one,[2] and outlines of the objects are mostly unaffected by the game's native anti-aliasing.[6]
