Sega AM2 was a Japanese video game development division owned by Sega.
AM2 was founded on October 1, 1983 as Studio 128 by Sega, and was later renamed to Sega R&D 8 in 1988, before renamed to AM R&D Dept. 2 in 1990. In 2000, AM R&D Dept. 2 was later merged with CRI Middleware's software development division to became AM2 of CRI, before the division was spun off and became a subsidiary company as Sega-AM2 Co., Ltd. in 2001. Sega-AM2 Co., Ltd. was later renamed to Sega AM2 when the subsidiary was reabsorbed by Sega in July 2004, becoming a division within Sega once again.
The restructuring within Sega in September 2022 saw Sega AM2 merged with the remaining staff of the Sega AM3 and formed Sega Division 5.
