- Does not officially support Windows 7, but it is reported to run well on Windows 7 x64 bit.[1]
- The most common solution required is the multiple core CPU fix.
- This game uses the Games For Windows Live DRM, which causes this game to be unavailable in some countries.
System Requirements
- Game works on Windows 7 provided that the multiple core CPU fix is applied.

FO3 is pretty primitive in the way it handles system codecs, and will frequently just crash if you have a codec installed it doesn't like. One way to test if you have codec issues is by temporarily renaming the Data/Music and Data/Video folders in your program directory to something else (try each one individually) and attempting to start the game. If that works, you have a codec problem! Fixing codec issues is beyond the scope of this guide, but the following steps worked for me:
- Uninstall all audio/video programs not in active use
- Download and install the K-Lite Basic codec pack; run the codec repair tool as part of the install
- Restart the computer
