The Logitech G25 is a racing wheel released by Logitech on May 9, 2006.
Unlike past Logitech force feedback racing wheels which employed the single-motor-gear-driven force feedback mechanism, the G25 has a more responsive dual-motor-gear-driven force feedback powered by two motors, with only one set of gears between the motors and wheel. The gearing also have anti-backlash design, resulting in smoother operation. Whereas past Logitech wheels has the stick shifter built onto the base, the G25 has the stick shifter, now as a manual-sequential shifter, separated from the base. The external shifter is capable of switching between sequential mode and H-pattern mode. The foot pedal set have also been redesigned, now with 3 potentiometer-based pedals with metal faceplates and can be mounted onto the racing stand/cockpit.
The G25 is supported in games that incorporate Logitech's steering wheel SDK, but requires specific version of Logitech Gaming Software to be installed in order to work.
General Information
Inputs
- 1 × 2-axis steering wheel with 900-degree lock-to-lock
- 2 × wheel-mounted paddle shifters on the wheel
- 2 × digital face buttons on the wheel
- 4 × digital directional buttons (d-pad) on the shifter: ↑, ↓, ←, →
- 7 × shifter positions on the shifter: Gear 1, Gear 2, Gear 3, Gear 4, Gear 5, Gear 6, Reverse
- 4 × digital face buttons on the shifter
- 1 × shifter mode knob
- 3 × analog foot pedals on the pedals: ᴄʟᴜᴛᴄʜ, ʙʀᴀᴋᴇ, ᴀᴄᴄᴇʟ
Use with PC platforms
- MacOS is not supported.
Windows
- Windows 10 and Windows 11 detect the G25 as "Logitech G25 Racing Wheel USB", but is unusable without additional software.
- Requires Logitech Gaming Software to be installed on the PC to work.
Logitech Gaming Software
- Button inputs and paddle shifters can be reconfigured.
- The steering sensitivity, force feedback strength, center force strength, soft steering locks and pedal sensitivity can be adjusted.
- Support multiple profile on per-game basic and support automatic profile switch upon detection of the game...
- ...but is incapable of detecting Microsoft Store games.
- The G25 requires the version 5.10.127 (32-bit and 64-bit) of the driver, which is known to be incompatible with hypervisor-protected code integrity (HVCI) security feature on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Can cause software conflict with Logitech GHub if both software run simultaneously.
Linux
Oversteer
- Steering Wheel Manager for GNU/Linux
- Allows change emulation mode, change rotation range.
- Combine accelerator/brakes pedals for games that use just one axis.
- Change autocentering force strength.
- Change force feedback gain.
- Supports device configuration profiles.
- Fix system permissions to access all device features.
- Overlay window to display/configure range.
- Use wheel buttons to configure range.
- Allows hardware performance testing.
- Features only for new-lg4ff: Combine accelerator/clutch pedals. Useful for flight simulators. Change global force feedback gain (with new-lg4ff), change each conditional force feedback effect type gain. FFBmeter to monitor FFB clipping using wheel leds or overlay window.
Hardware
Expansions
Logitech Lap Attachment for Force Feedback Wheels
- Optional accessory for the racing wheel to be used on user's lap...
- ...but it's not stable.
- Was only designed for the Logitech racing wheels prior to the G Pro Racing Wheel.
Support in games
- Games that incorporate Logitech's Steering Wheel SDK can support the wheel, while also provide force feedback.
