Regarding Control added fix

I saw your "Prevent DLSS from automatically enabling itself during gameplay" added fix to the Control page; I have a few questions: how does this problem manifest itself? It is very unclear from your added section to the page. Does it just enable itself during gameplay and then is turned on all of the sudden in the options menu? If you turn it off in the settings menu, it thus turns itself on during normal gameplay? Does this happen always, thus consistently, or only sometimes? Are you playing with any mods, replaced DLSS dll (DLSSSwitcher or something) or any other modifications to the game?

Mrtnptrs (talkcontribs)

Are you also sure step 3 is actually needed? At first glance it would seem like step 4 should already be enough?

Mrtnptrs (talkcontribs)

Also, how do you see DLSS is actually active during gameplay as this sounds more like an issue where the game is rendering at a lower internal resolution instead of using DLSS then to upscale it back...

Yup, turns itself back on with RTX 3090 and 4090. Very annoying when you notice some blurry edges and features of the game while playing... Kept happening and the way I posted is the only way I figured how to correct that. No need for DLSS with a Ryzen 9 5900x 64Gigs of RAM, FireCuda 2TB NVME, 3090... or 4090. But DLSS kept turning itself ON.

Not sure if just making the values the same for regular res and the ones being removed are needed. Was more concerned about learning the wiki markup code that I got distracted with that rather than the correctness of the content. Thank you for taking a look.

I can tell DLSS is on cause the monitor is 38 in LG UltraGear at 3840x1600... It is very annoying to have OK hardware and the game decides to turn on DLSS with its blurry edges and ruin the experience...

You are thus 100% sure that the game isn't just rendering at a lower resolution with actual no DLSS instead of upscaling it to the full resolution using DLSS? It thus then after gameplay is suddenly turned on again in the main menu but was disabled before gameplay? But the resolution steps can thus be removed? Sorry, asking basically the same questions again, but your wording doesn't make it fully clear to me. And again, do you have any modifications, tweaks or swapped DLSS file applied to the game?

To be Clear: "Does it just enable itself during gameplay and then is turned on all of the sudden in the options menu?" YES it turned itself back on and the settings showed it. Had to manually turn it OFF over and over during game play. Original game files. No mods, no weird DLLS nothing modified. Steam Game. If you would like to test that out, you can also get similar hardware and verify yourself.

I appreciate you taking the time to verify, but gee. If you really doubt, then get somebody to test it.

You answered all my questions really clearly this time. Thanks. Seems to be a weird issue then. Graphics drivers are up-to-date I assume? Sorry, just asked these issues to double-check as it is a quite unusual issue. Will try to test this myself too; Nvidia hardware and Intel CPU.

Mrtnptrs (talkcontribs)

I cannnot reproduce this issue sadly; it stays off even after playing for 10 minutes.

If the game would use that, it would be extremely unusual... So... I hope not haha.

Also, I did google for a solution to force-disable DLSS and very few places including Reddit, YouTube had much. I was only able to find a fix for my issues with DLSS when I came to see this Wiki... otherwise I'd still be looking for a solution.

Disabling DLSS globally on the nVidia control panel had no effect either... Anyhow.

If the number of users with similar issue, high end hardware but DLSS still activates, affected is minimal but my entry on how to force disable DLSS is useful for the handful of users... Then?

Found a reference: on this Youtube Video, the "Resolution" and "Render Resolution" are the same. On my rig, they were not, even after installing the game clean after I got the 4090. After I found on this Wiki the renderer.ini file and tinkered with it, the two were the same on the Game Graphics Settings... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80HXlPkcq3U&t=74s

Oh, don't worry, the information you provided makes it clear it is a real, and very weird, issue. Thanks for adding it to the page :)
