Why was Increased Draw Distance replaced?

The two new mods replacing it don't work in all areas, and don't fix the underlying issue. The mod page for Next Generation LOD BETA even suggests using it on top of Increased Draw Distance, which is a little baffling to say the least.

Increased Draw Distance is certainly a bit of a pain to install, but there really is no parallel to it, from my limited experience.

Since the user who replaced the Increased Draw Distance mod didn't leave a reason, and since its own mod page admits it doesn't cover things like NPCs, I added it alongside the existing mods, noting how it compliments other such mods.
