Template:Infobox

Trine has very modest system requirements. However, the game itself is fairly CPU intensive, and acceptable performance requires a dual core processor or above to run smoothly.

Windows

Compatibility

Trine does not run on most Intel integrated graphics chipsets.

Mac

Compatibility

The game does not run on Intel graphics solutions (such as MacBooks from 2006-2008) with the only exception being the new MacBook Pro 2011 models. The game does run on most Macs from 2009 onwards that have a distinct graphics chip (NVIDIA/ATI). Macs with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M or ATI Radeon X1600 graphics may not achieve smooth gameplay.

General Information

Controller Support

Xbox controllers are supported, with a mod available for using the Wii's motion controller.

Graphical Tweaks

Vsync Tweak

By default, Trine's vsync setting will run the game at 24Hz when enabled, rather than the actual refresh rate of the display. To achieve a higher vsync rate using the Steam version of the game, edit the configuration file found here:

 <your steam install folder>\steamapps\common\trine\config\options.txt

adding the following line with the Display section:

 refresh_rate_override = <your refresh rate, e.g. 60 for 60Hz>

and then make the file read-only. If you do not change the file to be read-only, your settings will be overwritten when Trine launches. Note that making this file read-only will prevent any other setting changes from working, so you should perform this tweak after configuring everything else.

Issues and Fixes

Local Co-op cannot detect multiple keyboards and mice or pairs them incorrectly

First, open the Launcher, go to the advanced menu, and make sure that you have "enable multiple mice and keyboards" checked. This is unchecked by default.

If that does not fix the problem, go to your Trine folder. Open the config folder, and then open options.txt. In that file, you should find something like this:

player1_keyboard_ID = 0
player1_mouse_ID = 0
player2_keyboard_ID = 1
player2_mouse_ID = 1
player3_keyboard_ID = 2
player3_mouse_ID = 2

You can now manually assign mice and keyboards to the correct players by changing the ID numbers. You may have to open and close the game a few times, testing the controls each time, to determine which numbers refer to which mice and keyboards. Be aware that the ID numbers may not perfectly match up as 0's for player 1 and 1's for player 2, etc, as in this example. You may want, for instance, player 1 to have keyboard 2 and mouse 0, depending on what numbers your computer has assigned to which devices.
