Race Driver: Grid

From PCGamingWiki, the wiki about fixing PC games
Revision as of 09:12, 29 December 2012 by Garrett (talk | contribs) (added game data and input settings templates)

Template:Infobox The last patch - v1.3 - was released in October 2009 which is stable, however multiplayer servers were deactivated in June 2011.

Issues and Fixes

No multiplayer support

Multiplayer is still possible and relatively easy to organise by using GameRanger. To do it, get 1 person to host a game of Grid through game ranger, then get everyone to join. The host must then click the start button in the gameranger lobby which will launch the game. The host then navigates to multiplayer > lan > create session > create lobby - at which point GameRanger will automatically start the other players game. They should go to multiplayer > lan > join session to join the game.

No sessions found in multiplayer

Everyone must be using the exact same version of Grid for the sessions to display.

Alt-Tab crashes game

Alt-tabbing out of the game may cause it to hang. No known solution (finding a way to make it run in windowed mode will likely solve this issue).

The game does not appear to run on an Intel i7 CPU

The hyperthreading in your i7 CPU, will mean that it is recognised as an 8 core, which can cause conflict with the game. The problem can be normally be overcome by doing the following:

Replace the contents of

C:\Program Files (x86)\Codemasters\Grid\system\workerMap8Core.xml

with that of

C:\Program Files (x86)\Codemasters\Grid\system\workerMap4Core.xml

Game data

Save game location

Save game cloud syncing

Input settings

Controller support

Xbox 360 Controller

Supported by default.

Logitech G27 wheel

The G27 wheel is not natively supported, but the G25 is so it's not difficult to get it to work.

In the

C:\Program Files (x86)\Codemasters\Grid\ActionMap\

folder the G25 is actionMapPreset1.xml, make a copy of that file, rename to "G25_actionMapPreset1.xml" for a backup.

Open the actionMapPreset1.xml file in a plain-text editor like Notepad or Wordpad, change ALL instances of "G25" to "G27" (quotes here just for clarity - don't add extra quotes in file).

Save the file, save a copy as "G27_actionMapPreset1.xml" as a backup. It's important the the file with the G27 edits remains named actionMapPreset1.xml else it won't work.

Run GRID, the G27 will be detected and displayed in the Controls menu.

If that method doesn't work, try this.

Other Technical Information

GetGames version

If you buy Grid from GetGames then it comes unpatched and with disk protection (even though it's a digital version). This means you have to patch it and then crack it.
