Revision as of 22:44, 8 August 2012
Key Points
- Widely criticised as being a very poor PC port.[1]
- Poor sales of the game on console platforms has resulted in Radical Entertaintment being essentially shut down. The long-term effects of this on support for the PC port remains to be seen.[2]
Very Common Errors
- No shadows with ATI graphics cards.
- Cannot complete Operation Flytrap.
- Performance degrades over time (memory leak).
General Information
- Steam Forum.
- Steam Forum thread with additional fixes - maintained by Suicidal.banana.

Issues Resolved
Issue - No Shadows With ATI Graphics Cards
- Prototype 2 has a similar bug as with Prototype, where shadows are not rendered properly on AMD ATI Radeon cards.
- This can lead to a very poor graphical quality.
- No official or unofficial fix has been issued for Prototype or Prototype 2.

Issue - Cannot Complete Operation Flytrap
Template:Right On some PC configurations it's impossible to complete the mission Operation Flytrap.

Issue - Performance Degrades Over Time
Template:Right Also known as a memory leak.
- Caused by a problem with a setting on x64 bit Windows. To do with Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and Physical Address Extension (PAE).
- If you are having the "memory problem" chances are PAE is not forceenabled.
- This "FIX" has nothing to do with fixing. Just extending memory space so that the crash occurs maybe bit later on 32bit systems.
- 64bit systems don't use/need PAE
- DEP probably doesn't do anything other than compromise system security in the long term.

Issue - No Voice Audio During Gameplay

Issue - USB Devices Crash Game
- Some keyboards (and likely other input devices) may cause Prototype 2 to crash while attempting to load the game (brief black screen, follow by a crash-to-desktop).
- Devices with additional USB ports for connecting peripherals may be responsible for the problem.
