ArenaSetup is a pre-packaged installer for modern versions of Windows.

CD/floppy differences

Arena was initially released on floppy disk; the CD version was released later on added voice acting during cutscenes. The two versions are otherwise identical.

Improvements

Playing under Windows

Download and install ArenaSetup. This version is pre-packaged with DOSBox and ready to play.

Playing under Mac OS X or Linux

Download the game files and install using DOSBox.

DOSBox settings

To play Arena properly under DOSBox, make the following changes in dosbox.conf (not needed when using ArenaSetup):

  • Change memsize=16 to memsize=32
  • Change aspect=false to aspect=true
  • Change cycles=auto to cycles=20000
