Cities in Motion is a single player game published by Paradox Interactive.
Issues And Fixes
Computer Runs Hot
Cities in Motion does not limit FPS by default. This can potentially cause overheating of your computer. Fortunately, there is a way to limit FPS.
- Open
%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Cities In Motion\
on Windows or/Users/*username*/Library/Application Support/Cities in Motion
on Mac. - Open
settings.script
in your text editor of choice. - Find the line $fpsLimit = 0.0, and set it to whatever you want to limit your FPS to.
So to limit my FPS to 60, I would set $fpsLimit = 60.
Poor Performance on High End Computers
The game engine is poorly optimized, and thus may have trouble on even the highest end computers. Several graphics settings may improve performance.
- Enable the system Cursor.
- Disable Vertical Sync
If these don't at least make the game playable, try lowering the resolution as well.
Game Doesn't Load
If the game will not load, try forcing the game to run in a window.
- Open
%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Cities In Motion\
- Open
settings.script
in Notepad. - Find the line $fullscreen = true;, and set it to $fullscreen = false;.
If you are running the game on an ATI/AMD card, then placing an older version of an ATI DLL file in the game directory may allow it to work.
- Download the necessary .DLL file here.
- Navigate to
C:\Program Files\cities in motion\
and copy that DLL file there.
If none of these work, try deleting the settings.script
file which can be found at %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Cities In Motion\
on Windows or /Users/*username*/Library/Application Support/Cities in Motion
on Mac.
Won't Load/Runs poorly on Laptop
Cities in Motion is not supported on intel graphics cards. If you are running the game on a computer with both an intel card and an ATi or Nvidia card, try forcing the game to run on the non-intel card.
Mods And Utilities
Ultimate Camera Control Mod
This camera mod allows for better camera controls, as well as allowing you to zoom down to ground level. Simply navigate to C:\Program Files\cities in motion\
, create an "addons" folder, grab the mod from here, and install it in the newly created addons folder.
