The Super Nintendo Entertainment System Controller for Nintendo Switch Online is a game controller released by Nintendo on September 5, 2019.
Made specifically for the Nintendo Switch, the controllers were modeled after the SNES Controller, but with some differences; Unlike the original SNES controller which has a proprietary controller port, the new controller use USB Type-C connection and have Bluetooth connectivity. The additional ZL and ZR buttons were added on the top of the controller.
In Japan, a similar Super Famicom Controller for Nintendo Switch Online was released, modeled after the Super Famicom Controller's coloring. The difference between the two regional version of the controllers are purely cosmetic.
The controller is a generic DirectInput controller, so it are not supported by games that use the XInput API unless XInput wrappers like Steam Input are used. It should be noted that the controller is currently only available to those who subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online service.
