The World Rally Championship, abbreviated as WRC, is an global rally racing event owned and governed by the FIA.
Although prior rally games do features licensed World Rally Cars from the FIA, the 2002 PlayStation 2 game World Rally Championship was the first licensed WRC game ever released.
Electronic Arts is the current right holder for developing and publishing WRC games from 2023 onward, following the acquisition of Codemasters (who owns the right of WRC games at that time) in 2021.
