Template changes and new templates

Hiya again, I have a little list of tasks for you :). Sorry I didn't have time to mock it up properly, but I'm happy to clarify :). I hope it won't take too much time, and that you genuinely enjoy doing stuff like this :).

VideoSettings

1) remove Multiple Buffering

2) remove 4:3 row

3) rename 16:9 into Widescreen Resolution

4) can you make this table not display rows if they are empty?

DRM Table

1) remove column 'No Extra DRM'

2) make notes colum into 'Additional DRM Notes'

3) is it possible to add a switch to make this collapsible?

New templates

Controller Settings

  • hungry_eyes and I are a bit divded on this- I was thinking of incorporating this into VideoSettings (making a new GameSettings table), whereas hungry_eyes thought it would be too cluttered. Would be interested in your opinion on it.

Column 1: Controller Settings

  • Remappable Keys
  • Controller Support
  • no need for either to be visible if they are empty.

Column 2: Native - native/impossibru!/hackable

Column 3: Notes

Save Game Locations

Column 1: Operating System

Column 2: Save Location

Save Game Cloud Syncing

Column 1: System

  • no need for fixed Systems - at the moment this would include Steam Cloud, Origin, GameSave Manager

Column 2: Native - native/impossibru!/hackable

Column 3: Notes

If we can put the Save Game Location and Save Game Cloud Syncing tables seamlessly together (even though they have differen column structures) that would be great. And also to have the tables/rows only appear if they are not empty.

Video Settings - I've updated the old template up to but not including the hide-row functionality, as backwards compatibility makes the code too cluttered. Use Template:Video Settings from now on, for new articles, and we can try phasing out the old template eventually :)

DRM Table - Done.

Will work on the new template shortly.

Andytizer (talkcontribs)

Thanks very much mate, look forward to the new stuff :).

Andytizer (talkcontribs)

Can you make a switch for Template:Video Setting - so that for example, if I entered collapsible=true - it would display as a collapsed table by default, and collapsible=(empty) - no collapsible option at all.

Masked Turk (talkcontribs)

Done.

Will do the new templates tonight btw :P

Ref: Controller Settings — I think having the option to use it as a separate template is a good thing or, as you say, it might get a little cluttered. What I would say, is making it possibly fit in with {Video Settings} seamlessly would be the best compromise. — Template:Input Settings (Input is perhaps more encompassing than Controller :p)

See them all together here - there seems to be some kinda auto-generated spacing glitch on some templates. I'll have to look further into this at some point, as I think it's a mediawiki glitch rather than my code :/

Andytizer (talkcontribs)

Amazing amazing! :D I look forward to playing around with these in a new sample layout. As far as spacing, it looks fine at the moment I think. I'll let you know if I'd like anything adjusted if that's okay!

Andytizer (talkcontribs)

I think I've implemented these into the PCGamingWiki:Sample Article Layout, will give it a go on some new articles soon :). Thanks so much for the work.

If you are looking for codes for any new games lemme know and I'll get on it :).

Masked Turk (talkcontribs)

I think it looks pretty great :) Please do ping me if you have any more projects/fixes to be done, I'm as always happy to help.

I can't really think of any newish games I'm looking for, but if you can access Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction (steam edition for the mac version, ideally), that'd be top of my list tbh :P Really though, don't bust your beans over it; I don't want to appear as though I'm taking advantage of your goodwill, haha.

Andytizer (talkcontribs)

No you have definitely earned it :). Anyway doesn't hurt to try and maybe we can even get a preview of Thief 4 from Ubisoft Montreal. You also need to report about the dreaded Uplay DRM, which I haven't had the misfortune of experiencing yet.

Masked Turk (talkcontribs)

My god, how anal xD. Is that built into even the Steam version of the game? From this mac gameplay vid it didn't seem too bad, so I suppose it's a on-off thing :P Regardless, I'll do a write up if I encounter it, hehe.
