Hey, I just made an account and I'm not totally sure how to edit the page. A bunch of the page's contents don't show up in the editor window for me, so I thought I'd put it here and somebody else who knows what they're doing can add it to the appropriate sections.
The main thing I think should be communicated is that only the INSTALLER is 16-bit. The actual executable (at DATA\TONKA.EXE on the disk) is 32-bit, so can be run without issue. I was able to get the game running flawlessly on Windows 11 with the following steps:
- Download wing32.dll and place in C:\Windows\SysWOW64
- Run SETUP.EXE with otvdm as suggested on the page
- Click through all the error messages during setup. When installing the included QuickTime, click "Skip Remaining" as soon as the option appears.
- Copy the TONKA.INI file from the WINDOWS directory in your otvdm install folder to C:\Windows
- To play, run TONKA.EXE in the DATA folder on the disk without any compatibility options
- If trucks are difficult to control in-game, try reducing the sensitivity and polling rate of your mouse. I was able to control the trucks by reducing my polling rate to 125 and DPI to 400.
