Thrustmaster Formula Generation 2 |
The Thrustmaster Formula are a series of racing wheels released by Thrustmaster since 1994.
While not the first racing wheel to be released in history, the original Formula, known as the T1, is the first racing wheel to come with a pedal set. The T1 use bungee cords for steering centering, and has a stick sequential shifter on the base.
An improved model, the Formula T2, was released on September 29, 1995.[1] The T2 has smaller but thicker steering wheel and replaced the roller wheels on the pedals with rotatable plates. It also added a table clamp mechanism to clamp the wheel base onto the desk. The T2 has a Mac-compatible model that was released on December 9, 1996, which has PS/2 connectors instead of the game port connectors.[2]
The Formula has a pedal-less version in a form of Grand Prix 1, released on August 7, 1996.[3] The Grand Prix 1 lacked the foot pedals and stick shifter, and has the steering-mounted analog paddles for brake and acceleration.
Because they are using the game port connectors, they are not compatible with modern PC without the use of a third-party adapter. Furthermore, the driver from the included CD may not be compatible with modern OS.
