The Logitech Force EX are a series of racing wheels released by Logitech since April 2005.

The Force EX are essentially designed to be a replacement model to the original Driving Force. They have 180-degree or steering angle, single-motor-gear-driven force feedback, built-in table clamp, and a 2-pedal pedal set. The steering wheel, however, has been redesigned.

The PC-only Formula Force EX was first released in April 2005. It is followed by the DriveFX and Driving Force EX, released in July 2006 and on November 11, 2006 respectively[1][2]. The DriveFX and the Driving Force EX are identical to the Formula Force EX, but with console compatibility (PlayStaiton for Driving Force EX, Xbox 360 for DriveFX) added. The Driving Force EX was also released in Japan as the GT Force RX.

Out of all Force FX wheels, only the Formula Force EX and the Driving Force EX are supported in games that incorporate Logitech's steering wheel SDK, but requires specific version of Logitech Gaming Software to be installed in order to work. The USB connection to the PC is a must on the Driving Force EX, which also has an additional PlayStation controller connector in addition to the USB Type-A connector. The DriveFX wheel is not natively supported on PC, so a third-party driver like the XBCD Driver is needed.

Use with PC platforms

MacOS is not supported.

Windows

Windows 10 and Windows 11 detect the Formula Force, DriveFX and Driving Force EX as "Logitech Formula Force EX USB", "Logitech DriveFX Racing Wheel" and "Logitech Driving Force EX USB" respectively, but is unusable without additional software. Oddly, the Japan equivalent of the Driving Force EX, the GT Force RX, was detected as "Logitech Driving Force RX USB" instead.
Requires Logitech Gaming Software to be installed on the PC to work.

Logitech Gaming Software

For Formula Force EX and Driving Force EX only.
Button inputs and paddle shifters can be reconfigured.
The steering sensitivity, force feedback strength, center force strength, soft steering locks and pedal sensitivity can be adjusted.
Support multiple profile on per-game basic and support automatic profile switch upon detection of the game...
...but is incapable of detecting Microsoft Store games.
The Force EX wheels requires the version 5.10.127 (32-bit and 64-bit) of the driver, which is known to be incompatible with hypervisor-protected code integrity (HVCI) security feature on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Can cause software conflict with Logitech GHub if both software run simultaneously.

XBCD Driver

For DriveFX only.
A new version of XBCD driver allows the DriveFX wheel to be used on Windows machines.
Officially supports 32 Product IDs, although manual installation sometimes works for unrecognized deivces[3]. See list of supported devices.
Works with every adapter as DirectInput device.
XBCD Setup Utility tool allows rebind every button, assign pressure sensitive buttons to analog axes (or transform them into digital buttons), set dead-zones for sticks, set level of rumble intensity or thresholds when buttons can be activated.
Only 3 pressure sensitive axis are free to use. At least 2 buttons will be not remapped, and support of buttons remapped to the same axis will needs specialized software to make them supported.
Complicated installation. Requires disabling driver signature enforcement in Windows, as driver is not digitally signed.
Currently no support for wireless controllers.

Linux

Oversteer

For Formula Force EX and Driving Force EX only.
Steering Wheel Manager for GNU/Linux
Allows change emulation mode, change rotation range.
Combine accelerator/brakes pedals for games that use just one axis.

Fix system permissions to access all device features.
Overlay window to display/configure range.
Use wheel buttons to configure range.
Allows hardware performance testing.
Features only for new-lg4ff: Combine accelerator/clutch pedals. Useful for flight simulators. Change global force feedback gain (with new-lg4ff), change each conditional force feedback effect type gain. FFBmeter to monitor FFB clipping using wheel leds or overlay window.
