Key points
- Re-released as freeware.
Running the game
Since ZZT is a DOS game, most modern PCs will not be able to run it without the use of DosBox; however, you can use DreamZZT instead. DreamZZT works under Windows, Linux, Mac OS, and even has ports on the Dreamcast and Nintendo DS.
Recommended Mods, Level Packs, Total Conversions
- Banana Quest - Adds PC Speaker tunes, fetch quests, minigames, puzzles, and tongue-in-cheek humour.
- _Death_ - Adds a grim storyline, multi-floor levels, blood, new monsters and new objects.
- Little Square Things - Player indirectly controls multiple squares at once.
- Dungeon Master's Gallery - Randomly Generated Dungeons
- Run-On - Long, progressively generated levels. Has multiple difficulties and various options.
