TERA, or The Exiled Realm of Arborea, is an upcoming release developed by Bluehole Studio. The game is currently in closed beta and it will be released on May 1, 2012.

Version Differences

Digital Rights Management (DRM)

The game launches from a launcher client which requires a constant internet access to use, as is typical of MMOs. There is no activation limit however signing in from a new location will require you to provide a security code sent to your e-mail account.

Graphical Tweaks

Field Of Vision

It is possible to edit a .ini file to alter the in-game FOV. To do this, go to ...\Program Files (x86)\TERA\Client\S1Game\Config and open the file S1Engine.ini with a text editor such as Notepad. Then navigate to the following line:

bEnableMouseSmoothing=true

Underneath this line, add a new line with the following:

Bindings=(Name="x",Command="fov N")

Where 'N' is the desired FOV value - note that 100 is a reasonable value to set this to. Also note that there should be no semi-colon at the beginning of this line unlike the lines which follow it. A visual representation of the change in FOV value can be seen here.

Framerate Unlock

By editing S1Engine.ini it is also possible to unlock the games framerate. Go to ...\Program Files (x86)\TERA\Client\S1Game\Config and open this file before navigating to the line:

bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE

Change this line to the following:

bSmoothFrameRate=FALSE
