League of Legends was released in October 2009 and developed by Riot Games. The game was in a closed beta from April 10, 2009, to October 22, 2009. It then transitioned to open beta until release. Generally speaking the game is largely bug-free and will run on a wide range of systems, however some glitches and bugs are still reported.

Software Requirements

- Microsoft .NET framework 3 or higher.

- Adobe AIR. Adobe Air is included with all League of Legends setup files, but can also be downloaded from Adobe's website.

Issues

Borderless Fullscreen Issues

There is also a bug if using the Borderless fullscreen mode in which the game will start loading champions in after selection, but the upper left corner of the game will be in the middle of the screen. This makes it impossible to see 3/4s of the screen, but has a relatively easy fix. Open up the Task Managers [Ctrl+Shift+Escape], right-click on League of Legends, and click "Maximize". This will restore the points to their correct location and fix it. Alternatively, if you can manage it, change the game mode back to Fullscreen or Windowed, and then change it back and it will be fixed.

This can also be fixed by moving your taskbar from one screen to the other while the loading screen is showing, after that you can move your task bar to your screen of preference.

Client Doesn't Open

This issue can occur when clicking to launch the client from the updater. The "League of Legends" emblem will flash a few times, which isn't unusual, but then the client itself will not open. A guide to fixing this bug can be found on the official forums, however the final step, completely clearing League of Legends and all programs associated with it from the computer and doing a re-install from scratch, is the only certain fix.

Disconnect Untargetable Minions

This issue often occurs after a period of lag or after disconnecting and reconnecting to a game in progress. Minions will appear in the lane, missing health bars and untargetable, but skill appearing to cause object collision. The only known way to fix this is to disconnect manually and reconnect to the game.

Disconnect Untargetable Towers/Inhibitors

This issue can occur after disconnecting and reconnecting to a game in progress. Turrets or inhibitors which have been destroyed during your disconnect period will appear to still be there, and the next turret/inhibitor along will be untargetable. Pressing A and left clicking the turret/inhibitor may fix this issue, otherwise try reconnecting. (You can also right click beside the tower, and you will then auto attack the tower, as long as it is the nearest enemy unit)

Disconnect Untargetable/Invisible Champions

This issue can occur after disconnecting and reconnecting to a game in progress. This issue can be fixed by disconnecting and reconnecting to the match.

Computer Shuts Off While Playing League

This problem can occur with several computers that is when you are playing the game your computer could instantly shut off. This could likely be caused by overheating with your Nvidia graphics card (even without any overclocking) which could be fixed by right clicking on your desktop, selecting Nvidia Control Panel, then going into the "Manage 3d Settings" on the left of the control panel. Once you are in this menu scroll down and on the bottom click next to vertical sync where it says "Use 3D Application Setting" and a drop down box will appear. On this drop down box you want to select "On" and click apply on the message that pops up on the bottom. This should fix or at least help your league of legends shutting down problem.

HUD Resetting

This issue causes the HUD sizing to reset with each game. This issue can be fixed with the following steps: Step1: Got to your LoL directory's "DATA" folder, usually found at: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\solutions\lol_game_client_sln\release s\0.0.0.162\deploy\DATA\" Step2: In that "DATA" folder, see if you have a folder titled "menu", if you do, delete it. If you do not, proceed. Step3: Within that "DATA" folder, create a folder titled "menu". Within the new "menu" folder, make a folder titled "hud". Step4: Go onto League and start a custom game and change your settings to how you want them to be. Then restart your client. Step5: You are now done! LoL will create a game configuration file into your ".../DATA/menu/hud" folder with your settings. You can go back to that folder to check, it will be titled what your resolution is and is openable in notepad. Obtained source: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=2315341

Mouse Cursor Disappearing

There is a bug on Dominion which causes the mouse cursor to disappear or corrupt, and appear as a vertical line. This problem persists through the game client and into the OS, until a restart occurs. The problem fixes itself at random intervals whilst in-game. This problem is believed to be caused by the use of an ATI graphics card, and no reliable fix has been found. One common suggested fix is to turn off cursor trails, and uncheck the "Hide Cursor While Typing" option in Mouse Options, however this fix has been known to not fix the problem for everybody. Another fix is to put the computer into sleep mode; the sleep/wake cycle clears the problem.

Mouse Lag/General Mouse Problems

This issue occurs primarily when in spectator mode, and can sometimes be fixed by Alt+Tab'ing in and out. Alternatively, logging out and logging back in will solve this issue.

Post-game Statistics Do Not Load

Sometimes after finishing a game, win or lose, the post-game statistics page will not load and the client will shut down. This is due to a problem with your computer's network firewall. If you're having this problem you may also notice that your client has trouble connecting to PVP.net every so often. Though it is not a permanent solve, you can go in to your antivirus software and temporarily disable your network threat protection. This issue is especially prevalent with users who have Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Space Bar Autocentre Doesn't Work

There is a bug wherein the space bar will randomly stop auto-centering back on the player's champion. Alt-Tabbing doesn't seem to immediately fix this problem, but it usually doesn't persist for long enough to become a major nuisance in-game. Going to Keybinds and rebinding auto locking usually fixes the problem.

LoL Replay

One of the most popular mods for League of Legends, LoL Replay (otherwise known as LoL Recorder), is a game recording and replaying mod/program. It has been given the Ok from Riot, and its openly used by most of their staff and pros. It adds very little load to the computer, and is completely automatic in recording and replaying. The only problem is that Health bars are only loaded when the player is looking at them ingame, this means that if during the replay you look somewhere different to where the player in the replay was looking, health bars become buggy and inaccurate. This is however the only downfall.

It can be downloaded via this link, and more information can be found here. Helpful information for new users can be found here.

LoL Replay Bugs

There is currently an issue with interaction between replays and the recording software Fraps. It is known to be something to do with the cooldown timers on skills, and how they are accelerated when the replay is fast forwarded. There is a fix to this issue in the program. In the settings there is a tick box for a "Fraps fix", and the program will also automatic detect if you are running fraps and ask you if you wish to apply the fix. The setting fixes the issue with Fraps, however it causes the cooldown timers to become un-synced when fast forwarding the replay.

Since the Ziggs patch (01-31-2012), older versions of LoL Recorder will cause the game to bug splat. If you have been experiencing this issue, update LoL Recorder, or turn it off.

When a replay is started, sometimes the viewer will be unable to view the replay controls (Pause, fast forward etc). This is caused by not having the latest DirectX Runtime install on the machine. This issue is easily fixable by downloading and installing the program via this link.

iLoL

While League of Legends is not available on mac computers, there is a third party program that has also been OKed by riot under the name of iLoL. It sometimes suffers from bugs when patches come out, and it is recommended you play a custom game whenever a new patch come out to make sure it works with the current patch. However it is connected to the League of Legend's update server and will update itself, and is usually updated to work pretty quickly.

To get iLoL go to this link,.

LolMatches

Lolmatches is a website that keeps track of summoners, their games games, win ratio and other useful stuff to analyze your gameplay. However you require the Lolmatches client to be able to send data to the server. So you can only search for summoners that has been in a game with someone that has this client running. You can download this program via (http://lolmatches.com/download/) Also you're able to spectate current high elo games via the site.

Other Stuff

The game installer by default uses the BitTorrent protocol to download patches and other content. To disable this and download only from the Riot servers, uninstall Pando Media Booster. Uninstalling LoL will actually leave Pando installed on your hard drive and running in the background. You should uninstall it, if you're uninstalling the game.
