Jane's Longbow Gold

Jane's Combat Simulations Longbow Gold combines AH-64D Longbow and Longbow - Flash Point Korea and spans three CD-ROMs.

Operating systems

Longbow Gold works without issues in DOS through Windows 95 and Windows 98. DOSBox is required in order to play on Windows 7 after installation. Longbow Gold experiences a minor slow down in DOSBox while running on GNU/Linux.

Working with DOSBox

Each CD needs to be mounted in DOSBox before playing.

DOSBox shortcut

A short cut can be created to skip the manual mounting. Append the previous commands to the bottom of the .conf file. Create a shortcut and enter this to the target box:

"C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.72\dosbox.exe" -conf "C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.72\dosbox.conf" "C:\Janes\lb.exe"

An alternative method would be to install DOSBox in the Longbow Gold folder and to create a separate configuration file and to have this in the target:

"C:\Janes\dosbox.exe" -jlbg.conf "C:\Janes\lb.exe"

V1.04F patch

The v1.04F patch fixes speech and flight recorder playback problems.

3Dfx patch

This patch permanently changes Longbow Gold to support 3Dfx. As a result, Longbow Gold can only be run through Windows.

Game files

All of the game files are stored in .tre files. The detre utility will extract all of the files. Download it from here at the bottom of the page.
