The game will immediately crash if the intro video files are not present.

Replace logo videos files with placeholder files^[1]

Download placeholder cutscene files from here.
Extract the video files to <path-to-game>\boot\data\video, replacing the original two files.

Notes

The original movie files can be restored by verifying the game files through Steam, or repairing the files through Origin.

Change game language^[2]

From the Steam library, right-click GreedFall and select Properties.
Select a language and confirm the change.
Steam will redownload all necessary files.

Notes

If the game was purchased from a Chinese or Russian retailer other than Steam, other languages are not included.^[2]

No voices in dialogue

According to the official FAQ, this bug is related to using Windows virtual surround sound features.

Disable Virtual Surround Sound^[3]
In the taskbar, right-click the audio/volume icon and select Open Sound Settings. Click on Open Sound Settings. After selecting the correct audio output device, click Device Properties. Set Spatial sound format to Off. Under Additional Device Properties, find the Spatial sound tab and ensure that 7.1 virtual sound sound is disabled.
