Windows 8 Error
Crysis 2 (TM) has stopped working error on launch
If you are encountering this error on Windows 8 Release preview you can delete the dx11.pak in your patch folder in Crysis 2's directory.
External TV locked at 24Hz
If you use an external TV as a monitor to player Crysis 2 you may encounter a bug where the game always uses a 24Hz mode in the TV, resulting in laggy framerate. Sadly there is no official fix for this issue and the only way to play the game in fullscreen is to force borderless windowed mode. To do this follow these steps:
- Set the game to run in windowed mode to the resolution you want
- Download Fullscreenizer (other tools may work, but i made this after trying a couple of others without success)
- Run Fullscreenizer and select the Crysis 2 window
- Press Fullscreenize and enjoy the game
Note that while the game runs fine, the in-game GUI mouse cursor (used in the menus) will believe that the game is running in the resolution the window initially was (even if you use the same resolution as the desktop the window will be a big smaller). This makes buttons and other GUI elements in the menus to not be highlighted or clicked when the real mouse cursor is over them but they will have a small (or big, depending on the resolution you set in game) difference. Fortunately the menu is fully usable with the keyboard (and it is not a big issue if you try to force the same resolution as your desktop).
