Call of Duty: Black Ops

From PCGamingWiki, the wiki about fixing PC games

Template:Infobox Call of Duty (series) Call of Duty: Black Ops is the seventh game in the series and the sequel to Call of Duty: World at War by Treyarch. Unlike the Modern Warfare series, Black Ops isn't properly optimized for the PC and it's very CPU bound. In addition, there's also framerate issues for people who well exceed the required specs.

Version Differences

Call of Duty: Black Ops uses Steamworks, therefore, all copies of this game, regardless of purchase location, will register on your Steam account.

== Further Modify Field of View == This does not work for single or multiplayer. Just because the values are in teh config does not mean that adjusting them passed the default range has any affect. I'm guessing the original author does not have the game, or has ever tried adjusting these values to see if they have any in-game effect, because they do not. Likewise, read-only or anything else does not make a difference. While Call of Duty Black Ops has a field of view slider in multiplayer, it only varies from 60 - 80 degrees, and it's not available in single player. SO, to further modify your field of view to a custom amount (let's say 90 degrees), you'll need to follow these directions as given.

First of all, go to your Black Ops player directory, found at:

Local Disk (C:)\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty black ops\players

REMINDER: Make backup copies of the singleplayer and multiplayer .cfgs before you edit them.

For the multiplayer .cfg:

  1. Open the file named config_mp.
  2. Use CTRL + F and type in "seta cg_fov_default", otherwise located in command line 83 if you're using Notepad ++.
  3. Delete the numerical value in the quotations and type in a custom variable that reflects the in-game field of view that you want (e.g. seta cg_fov_default "120" for a field of view of 120).
  4. Use CTRL + F and type in "seta cg_fov_default_thirdperson", otherwise located in command line 84 if you're using Notepad ++.
  5. Delete the numerical value in the quotations and type in a custom variable that reflects the in-game field of view that you want (e.g. seta cg_fov_default_thirdperson "120" for a field of view of 120).
  6. Save your edits and exit the multiplayer .cfg.

For the singleplayer .cfg:

  1. Open the file named config.cfg.
  2. Use CTRL + F and type in "seta cg_fov_default", otherwise located in command line 112 if you're using Notepad ++.
  3. Delete the numerical value in the quotations and type in a custom variable that reflects the in-game field of view that you want (e.g. seta cg_fov_default "120" for a field of view of 120).
  4. Use CTRL + F and type in "seta cg_fov_default_thirdperson", otherwise located in command line 113 if you're using Notepad ++.
  5. Delete the numerical value in the quotations and type in a custom variable that reflects the in-game field of view that you want (e.g. seta cg_fov_default_thirdperson "120" for a field of view of 120).
  6. Save your edits and exit the singleplayer .cfg.
