Incorrect shadows and reflections
When using modern GPUs, in-game shadows will render incorrectly, either being completely absent or misshapen, and reflections on shiny surfaces (i.e. windows, car bodies, etc) will be completely absent. However, this can be fixed if you use WineD3D, the standalone rendering component of Wine, the Windows compatibility layer for Linux.
- Download the latest version of the WineD3D installer, wined3d.exe, from http://gnu.mirrors.pair.com/savannah/savannah//wined3d/latest/
- Using an archive extraction tool like 7-Zip or WinRAR, open wined3d.exe.
- Open the %SYSDIR directory and extract the following files to the root installation folder of Silent Storm:
- d3d9.dll
- libwine.dll
- wined3d.dll
You will now have correctly-rendered shadows and reflections in-game.
- This fix also applies to Silent Storm: Sentinels.
- Even with this fix, shadows cast by buildings may still occasionally appear incorrect. This is normal behavior due to how the render engine used in the Silent Storm series renders building shadows.
