Black screen on start up or random crashes during the game
- Don't run PAYDAY with Teamspeak 3 or Ventrilo - it can collide on start up and not start the game.
- PAYDAY does not work properly with PhysX beta drivers, to fix it do the following:
- Exit Steam entirely.
- Uninstall NVidia PhysX from the control panel (use ADD/REMOVE program in Windows to do this).
- Go in your PAYDAY redist directory Steamapps\common\payday the heist\redist.
- Run the DirectX installer DirectX\DXSETUP.exe.
- Run the PhysX installer PhysX\PhysX_9.10.0513_SystemSoftware.exe.
- Start Steam and play.
- ALIENWARE users make sure you have AlienFX installed.
Not fitting to screen despite running at 1080p
- Sometimes PAYDAY does not fit entirely to the user's screen even though the resolution is set to 1920x1080. Here's the solution:
- Go to C:\Users\(Your user name)\AppData\Local\PAYDAY.
- Open the file named 'renderer_settings.xml' in Notepad.
- There are two lines of text. On the bottom line, find where it says "resolution =" and make sure that's followed by "1920 1080".
- Finally, then look for "refresh_rate =" and make sure that's followed by "60".
- The game should be running entirely in full screen now.
